FD-258 is the traditional ink fingerprint card. Some agencies still require a physical card rather than an electronic submission — and when they do, the card has to be rolled correctly the first time or it gets rejected.

When you need FD-258 cards
- FBI background checks and identity history requests
- Agencies in other states that cannot accept Nevada Live Scan
- ATF and firearms-related applications
- Personal record requests
- Immigration and visa-related submissions that specify a card
What to bring
A valid government-issued photo ID. If your agency supplied blank FD-258 cards or a specific mailing address, bring those too. If you do not have cards, ask us when you book.
Why rolled cards get rejected
Ink cards are rejected far more often than electronic submissions, usually for smudging, incomplete rolls or missing information. Having them done by a trained operator is the difference between one trip and three.
